ECS The Greener Side shortlisted as Finalist for National Recycling Awards 2021
September 29, 2021
The UK remanufacturer and recycler announced that it has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Circular economy initiative category for the 2021 National Recycling Awards.
MRW have stated that the quantity and quality of this year’s award entries has been higher than ever before, so being shortlisted is a fantastic achievement for ECS.
ECS explained that The Greener Side was first introduced in response to some of the alarming figures and statistics that were ignored at the time by a lot of other organisations and industries. It is now common knowledge that only about 15% of virgin cartridges that are produced and sold around the world are remanufactured, while the remaining 85% end up in landfill or other environmentally destructive methods.
Over a billion cartridges around the world are being bought on a yearly basis, and with this figure always rising, something must be done, the company explained. In response, The Greener Side work to combat the linear ways in which our industry currently operates by offering one of the largest toner cartridge/WEEE waste recycling schemes in the UK.
ECS The Greener Side’s Director of Recycling, Adrian Lovatt, added: “Being shortlisted as a finalist for such a prestigious award among some other fantastic organisations is an astounding achievement for ECS. It also comes at an important time in the world, when climate change ad environmental issues are at an all-time high. It’s already been reported that climate change is essentially ‘locked in’ by 2040 unless drastic change is made, however, change can only happen if more companies take responsibility for their waste and actions.”
