ECS entered for MRW National Recycling Awards
May 13, 2021
Effective Consumable Solutions (UK) Ltd (ECS) and their recycling branch; The Greener Side have announced that they have been nominated for MRW NRA’s Circular Economy Initiative Award, 2021.
MRW state that the award recognises an exceptional initiative by an organisation that has embedded the circular economy principles of designing out waste, keeping materials and products in use and regenerating natural systems, having reduced waste with a positive environmental and business impact and be an inspiration for others.
ECS explained that they are delighted that their circular approach has been recognised and rewarded by this nomination, but say there is still plenty of work to be on behalf of the industry in terms of protecting the planet, reducing waste and reusing products instead of replacing them with invaluable new raw materials.
ECS’s Recycling Director, Adrian Lovatt, said: “Through the combination of our remanufacturing and recycling expertise, we recognise the critical need for a sustainable and circular economy in the UK. As a result, we hope to somewhat relieve the burden placed on organisations to recycle their reprographic consumables.”
The remanufacturer and recycler explained that as of 2015 it became a legal requirement for anybody who places copier and printer cartridges onto the UK market to be registered as a producer of WEEE waste, which also applies to toner powder and printer/copier consumables.
The Greener Side offer producers of waste a solution with the ability to comply lawfully and ethically with the latest legislation which has quite rightly been made to address many issues that currently stain our industry. ECS then ensure that all waste is dealt with in the correct manner, reusing and remanufacturing the majority of the waste items that are collected.
