Mumbai police seize fake cartridges worth ₹25 lakh in late-night operation.

Mumbai police have uncovered a counterfeit printer toner and cartridge racket operating out of a warehouse in the city’s Ballard Pier district, seizing fake goods worth more than ₹25.09 lakh ($30,000/ €28,000) during a late-night raid on 20 June.

Acting on a complaint filed by Gulfraz Abdul Karim Makani, director of EIPR (India) Pvt. Ltd., officers raided the premises—Office No. 08, 1st Floor, Shipping House Building. The operation was led by Police Sub-Inspector Suraj Devre, under the supervision of DCP Pravin Munde, with support from forensic experts and independent witnesses.

Lokmat Times reported that a 33-year-old man, Jaysukh Hari Rawadiya, was arrested at the scene. According to police, Rawadiya admitted to running the operation for over a year and was unable to present any licenses or purchase records. Authorities recovered large quantities of counterfeit HP, Canon, and Samsung toner and ink cartridges, along with fake MRP stickers, packaging materials, and printing accessories.

A sample of each counterfeit product has been preserved for forensic testing and court evidence. The rest of the stock has been sealed as investigations continue.

The case has been registered under Sections 51 and 63 of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957.
