CONTEXT predicts printer sales growth to soften in 2021
December 3, 2020
The market intelligence company has released its latest insights in a blog post, where it predicts that consumer printer sales growth is set to soften in 2021 with continued delayed business demand.
In its latest blog, CONTEXT analyses the past 12 months in IT channel printer sales, calling it a “tale of two markets” with consumer demand climbing and business demand suffering because of global lock-downs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “According to CONTEXT data from the European market, the story for 2021 will be similar, with consumer sales growing at a lower rate—at least, during the start of the year,” the blog says.
As office closures continue, CONTEXT predicts as MPS demand grows even further it will mean “upfront hardware purchases in the corporate sector, and for small offices and the self-employed” will be reducing in 2021. In 2020 as the new hybrid workplace appeared and home schooling was introduced, entry and mid-level printers saw a rise in sales and the market intelligence company sees this will continue but at a lower rate in Q4 2020 and early 2021.
The home office and schooling has increased ink tank printer sales which CONTEXT sees continuing. CONTEXT’s blog concludes with the prediction that promotions and discounts on hardware sales will be a part of 2021 and ink tank printers will continue to grow in Europe as consumer demand for home office set ups continues to grow.
