Close the Loop wins in Hume
November 22, 2018
The company, the resource recovery partner of Cartridges 4 Planet Ark, has won multiple honours at the recent Hume City Council Business Awards in Australia.
The “hotly contested” awards saw Close the Loop take home the awards in the Sustainability and Innovation categories, as well as the prestigious Business of the Year Award, described by Cartridges 4 Planet Ark as “an achievement to be proud of, and a credit to the passion and hard work of the whole team.”
The awards were set up to both acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of local businesses, and the contribution they have made to both the Hume economy and the wider community.
Close the Loop provides resource recovery and sustainability solutions, and in recent years has been closely collaborating with infrastructure group Downer to develop new road surfaces made from recycled cartridges and other soft plastics. The recycled roads not only provide a solution for the waste, but also “have an increased fatigue life of 65 percent, which means they last longer, need less maintenance, and are superior quality over standard asphalt roads,” according to the company.
“The timing of this couldn’t have been better,” said Asia Pacific Sales & Marketing Manager Peter Tamblyn. “With Asian markets closing to plastics and Australia requiring industrial-strength solutions to problematic waste issues right now, these roads make a fantastic contribution but are also a superior product that can be recycled over and over, a perfect circular economy solution.”
Cartridges 4 Planet Ark, which collects the waste cartridges in partnership with the award-winning business, said it was “proud to be a partner with Close the Loop since 2003,” and was “looking forward to seeing what they develop next!”
