Canon signs off on another dispute
August 28, 2018
Another of the OEM’s many legal conquests has concluded, following a settlement agreement with NTT New Time Trade GmbH.
NTT, which also trades under the New Time Trade Company moniker, was accused of infringing the German portion of Canon’s European Parent EP 2 087 407 B1, and previously accepted inter alia a preliminary injunction from the District Court Düsseldorf.
The new settlement agreement resolves the dispute, although details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
NTT is a German cartridge supplier that has been providing products and services to its customers since 2013; its warehouse system boasts more than 500 square metres of capacity, and the company states that this “allows us to handle our business processes even faster. The time saved can be invested in higher quality assurance and control.”
The settlement with Canon follows several other legal victories for the OEM this summer, with similar agreements reached with Coemedia GmbH and Moreinks Limited, both relating to alleged infringements of the same patent as above.
Canon has also been granted two more preliminary injunctions in the District Court Düsseldorf relating to the patent, against Grey Systems GmbH and Inkjets Toners and Cartridges Ltd.
