November 27, 2018
The OEM has been stepping up its campaign against patent infringement on Amazon with the filing of further report infringement forms.
Canon Inc. has announced the filing of an infringement report with Amazon.com, seeking removal of Amazon.com listings for certain toner cartridges sold by Vision Supplies for use in HP laser beam printers.
Canon’s infringement report alleged that certain model HP 126A toner cartridges sold by Vision Supplies via Amazon.com infringed Canon’s U.S. Patent No. 8,688,008. Canon requested that Amazon remove Vision Supplies’ listings for those products, namely, Vision Supplies’ listings with Amazon Standard Identification Numbers B00ARLFYSU, B00ARLFZBQ, B00ARLFY9Y, B00ARLG08S, B00ARLG1C8, B00ARLFWNM, B00ARLG0O2, B00ARLFZSY, B00ARLFXAY and B00ARLFXQI.
At the time of this announcement, the above-identified Vision Supplies listings were no longer available on Amazon.com.
Canon has also announced the filing of a Report Infringement Form with Amazon ES. This form is based on the alleged use of claim 1 and 25 of the Spanish portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 2 087 407 regarding the cartridge model “CE505X” offered by Neotronics Europe SL under the ASIN B07DRMB86H.
Afterwards, Amazon took down the respective product, which is compatible with the OEM HP cartridge model CE505X and provides a non-OEM coupling member, a non-OEM drum as well as a non-OEM housing.
