Canon obtains Düsseldorf injunction
June 6, 2018
In the latest legal news from Canon, the OEM has announced that it has been granted a preliminary injunction in Germany against Inkjets Toners and Cartridges Ltd.
The preliminary injunction, which inter alia contains injunctive relief, was granted to Canon by the District Court Düsseldorf, and is against Inkjets Toners and Cartridges Ltd and its directors.
Canon brought this case against Inkjets Toners and Cartridges for the alleged patent infringement of the German portion of the OEM’s European patent EP 2 087 407, which concerns a drum unit and process cartridge.
Inkjets Toners and Cartridges Ltd has been brought to court by Canon for allegedly offering and distributing laser toner cartridges containing an infringing drum unit on amazon.de using Amazon Standard Identification Numbers 6040800542, 6040800593, 6040800615, 6040800623.
The cartridges concerned in the case are compatible with HP laser beam printers.
As Canon reveals, the preliminary injunction is not yet final and the defendants “have the option to file an objection”.
Canon has been in the headlines on a regular basis in recent months for its many patent infringement cases, filed both in the USA and elsewhere, some of which have already been resolved.
