Canon launches Red Label Zero paper range

Sep 10, 2025

Canon introduces the Red Label Zero FSC paper range with superior quality features for professionally looking documents.

Canon announced the expansion of its Red Label Zero FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) range designed for businesses who demand superior quality and professional-looking documents.

Ideal for supporting print companies and corporate organisations looking to achieve their own CO2 net zero goals, the responsibly sourced papers are ClimatePartner and FSC (FSC-C008945) certified. As part of the process for ClimatePartner certification, product carbon footprint has been calculated, reduction targets defined, and reductions implemented – climate projects have also been financed to take responsibility for any residual emissions. Adding to this, Canon also has partnerships with mills that hold recognised certifications such as EU-Ecolabel and ISO 9706 for sustainable practices and longevity.

Canon’s new Red Label Zero cut-sheet and reel papers, first previewed at drupa 2024, are being launched as part of Canon’s Zero paper range. Replacing the existing Red Label Superior range, Red Label Zero will offer the same high-quality papers with equivalent size options and a broad range of weights, helping customers who are seeking more sustainable options for print and scan solutions.

The Red Label Zero range is ideal for commercial and office prints that demand superior quality. The paper’s exceptional smoothness enhances sharp contrast and vivid colours, while its high-volume composition ensures a whiteness of 168 CIE and superior opacity. The paper provides reliable runnability and uptime for both toner and inkjet printers and suits a broad range of high-quality applications. It is available in sizes from A4, A3 and SRA3 (reels available on demand) with weights ranging from 80 to160 gsm.

The launch of Red Label Zero FSC reflects Canon’s ongoing commitment to sustainability across every part of its business, including its product portfolio, operations and supply chains – and its continued focus on being a responsible partner for its customers. These efforts have recently been awarded with a Platinum medal by global sustainability ratings organisation, EcoVadis, placing Canon in the top 1% of companies assessed globally.

Red Label Zero FSC builds on Canon’s existing Zero paper portfolio.  It carries EU Ecolabel and Nordic Swan Ecolabel certificates and is produced using ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) bleaching.

This includes working with paper mills that provide integrated pulp and paper production, combined in one site, and obtaining pulp from renewable sources and sustainably managed forests, certified by FSC or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification). For large volume customers, the papers can also be sent directly from the mills to the customers’ warehouses, helping to further reduce CO2 emissions.

Sustainability is considered at every stage of the process, including packaging with paper boxes made from 100% recycled fibres, and ream wrappers printed on recyclable paper.

Canon said it takes responsibility for any residual CO2 emissions, e.g. from transportation, by investing in renewable energy and Gold Standard-certified climate projects through its long-term partnership with ClimatePartner. ClimatePartner supports companies on their journey towards net zero with solutions to measure and reduce their carbon footprint as well as by financing certified climate projects.

Dominic Fahy, Head of Corporate said: “Sustainability is a key part of our corporate philosophy. From paper ranges through to upgradable and long-lasting print hardware, we’re committed to helping our customers to continuously lower the environmental footprint of their operations. Since the launch of the first Zero range in partnership with ClimatePartner in 2012, we have financially contributed to multiple climate projects which help us to take responsibility for any residual emissions from our products. Today, we’re proud to be able to offer sustainable manufacturing and product CO2 footprint compensation from cradle-to-customer for our papers, further enabling us to provide sustainable options for our customers and to support them with their own CO2 net zero goals.”

Canon UK & Ireland works with ClimatePartner to offer a Zero paper range which helps organisations to achieve their CO2 net zero goals. The Red Label Zero range is available immediately in selected regions, from Canon’s national sales organisations, resellers, and via the Canon online web shop.
