Canon introduces new Giga Tank printers in Japan

The OEM launched a new series of inkjet printers in Japan, the GX series.
Canon has newly developed the “GX series” of inkjet printers equipped with the extra-large capacity ink tanks, which the company calls “GIGA TANKS”. As a new product aimed at business use, the “GX7030” is equipped with a fax function with a two-stage paper feed cassette.
Canon said that in mid-May 2021, it will release two compact “GX6030” colour MFP models with a single-stage paper cassette.
Canon’s new “GX series” is equipped with “GIGA TANKS” to achieve low running costs and high productivity and is equipped with a wealth of functions suitable for business use, such as support for a variety of paper types and remote printing options.
By installing “GIGA TANKS”, the ink cost is about ¥0.8 ($0.009/ €0.007) per page of A4 monochrome document and about ¥2.2 ($0.018/ €0.015) per page of A4 colour document. In addition, the capacity of one black ink bottle (sold separately) can print about 9,000 pages of A4 , and the colour ink bottle (cyan/ magenta/ yellow, sold separately) can print about 21,000 pages of A4. Canon developed new pigment inks for all colours.
The device is compatible with various types of paper such as envelopes with windows, posters, and label paper, and various products can be printed with one unit. In addition, the width of the main unit is slimmer than that of conventional business inkjet printers, according to Canon.
