Canon files Amazon infringement forms

The OEM is stepping up its campaign against patent infringement on Amazon, filing more Report Infringement Forms with the online retailer.
On this occasion, Canon Inc. has announced the filing of Report Infringement Forms with Amazon UK “on the alleged use of claim 1 and 25 of the UK portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 2 087 407”, centred around toner cartridges offered by ImageStar Office Supplies.
These cartridges were being offered for sale under the ASINs (Amazon Standard Identification Number) B01AW4NUKA, B01HO4CZWU, B01HO4C06Q, B01HO4CWR8, and B01ACVOJ8A.
Afterwards, Canon reveals, Amazon took down the respective products.
These products are compatible with the OEM HP cartridge model CF280A and provide a non-OEM coupling member, a non-OEM drum as well as a non-OEM housing.
Canon has also filed Report Infringement Forms with Amazon Italy regarding the alleged use of claim 1 and 25 of the Italian portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 2 087 407 regarding the cartridge models “CE505A” and “CF280A” offered by Sichuan Xingdian Technology Co. Ltd. and Sichuan Hongdian Keji Youxian Gongsi Ltd. under the ASINs (Amazon Standard Identification Number) B01AVV0NN6 and B01C0002KU.
Amazon subsequently removed the listings for these products.
The infringing cartridges are compatible with the OEM HP cartridge models CE505A and CF280A and provide a non-OEM coupling member, a non-OEM drum as well as a non-OEM housing.
Canon explains that Amazon informed the vendors of the removals and they may object.
