June 5, 2024
Canon’s enforcement of its intellectual property right leads to the removal of toner cartridges, including the “TONER image technology” cartridge brand, from Coupang.
Canon Inc. announced the result of complaints filed with the Coupang Credibility Management Center seeking the removal of certain product offerings from Coupang platform, an E-commerce platform in Korea.
Canon’s complaints identified the product offerings shown in the table below and alleged that cartridges sold under these offerings infringe Canon’s Korean Pat. No. 10-2172796. Coupang has accepted Canon’s complaints and suspended the product offerings on its platform.
At the time of this announcement, the product offerings were no longer available on Coupang’s platform.
The company said: “Canon respects the intellectual property rights of others and will continue to enforce its own intellectual property rights. Canon appreciates the support of Coupang in protecting its intellectual property.”
