Canon bags a batch of BLI awards

September 5, 2018

Based on research BLI conducted, Canon U.S.A., Inc. has won the BLI Pacesetter Award for its imageRUNNER ADVANCE line-up’s end-to-end ease of use.

Several imageCLASS solutions received Summer 2018 BLI Pick Award recognition for Outstanding Printer for Small and Home Offices, or Outstanding MFP for Small-to-Medium Businesses.

According to BLI, to determine which manufacturers are market leaders deserving of the PaceSetter Award, BLI analysts conducted an in-depth study on tested Ease of Use functionality, focusing on features relating to enterprise work habits and environments. Key evaluation areas included print, copy, and scan functions, as well as job management, feedback, control panels, loading media, and misfeed removal. Pick Award selections, awarded twice annually for office equipment, acknowledge the products that gave the best performances in BLI’s lab tests in the previous six months.

“Canon’s intuitive MFP operation is well apparent in the results collected during our study,” says George Mikolay, Associate Director of Copiers/Production for Keypoint Intelligence – Buyers Lab. “Wasted time at the MFP for employees could literally translate to losing thousands of dollars. Thankfully, Canon has been integrating features to facilitate ease of use, like intuitive control panels, job prioritisation, and the ability to create shortcuts.”

BLI analysts ranked Canon’s control panel as easy to use and intuitively customisable. Users can store 60-plus personal and shared buttons to further streamline scan and copy workflows. Since this same control panel is available across Canon’s third-generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE second edition line, employees moving around the organisation will lose no time recognising processes at the MFP. Additionally, Canon impressed when it came to job management, allowing urgent jobs to be easily prioritised and modified.

Canon received the following Summer 2018 BLI Pick Awards for three of its compact, high-speed black-and-white imageCLASS products for their strong performance in BLI testing:

  • Canon imageCLASS LBP214dw/imageCLASS LBP215dw Printer
    • Outstanding Printer for Small and Home Offices, Summer 2018
  • Canon imageCLASS MF525dw MFP
    • Outstanding MFP for SMBs, Summer 2018

“Compact and easy-to-use, the imageCLASS LBP214dw/LBP215dw printers and imageCLASS MF525dw MFP are ideal for lower-volume workgroups that need a fast and reliable monochrome device,” says Tony Maceri, Senior Lab Technician for Keypoint Intelligence – Buyers Lab. “The products keep workers productive through intuitive design and robust mobile support, letting them stay connected even while away from their PCs.”
