Bad tech wastes 1.8 billion work hours
July 26, 2019
In June 2019, Insight conducted a new study based on interviews with more than 2,000 UK office workers with results revealing that many firms appear to be struggling to create a digital-first workplace.
The study by Insight shows that 80 percent of office workers have felt disadvantaged at work by not being able to use the technology they want, and 34 percent felt at some point that they were not equipped with the right technology to their job.
The study finds that typically, employees waste 2.4 hours per week at work due to these issues, with a fifth of respondents claiming to waste 3-8 hours. This amounts to a staggering 1.8 billion working hours each year for UK PLCs.
According to the study, workers also feel that internal communication is not always relevant to them or their work. Only about 47 percent of the information they receive is relevant to them which leads to 60 percent of the respondents saying they ignore the communication.
