Attorney General files consumer fraud lawsuit
January 25, 2018
Mark Brnovich, Arizona Attorney General, has announced the filing of a consumer fraud lawsuit against NT Sourcing LLC, Premiere Office Supplies LLC and their joint owner.
According to Legal NewsLine Brnovich filed the consumer fraud lawsuit earlier this month in the Maricopa County Superior Court. The suit accuses NT Sourcing LLC, Premiere Office Supplies LLC and their joint owner, James L. Deremiah, of “allegedly tricking consumers into paying for office supplies.”
Brnovich’s office has revealed that “the defendants would send fake toner cartridge invoices to churches, schools” and businesses in the state, many of which would then “accidentally sign off on the invoice as a routine business matter.”
Both NT Sourcing LLC and Premiere Office Supplies LLC would begin by ringing their chosen target, posing “as a legitimate business to obtain information about personnel and equipment.” These phone calls would then be followed by the issuing of a fraudulent invoice; once the invoice had been signed off on, “the defendants would allegedly send toner cartridges” with a retail price “much lower” than what the targeted institution had paid.
With the filing of this lawsuit, the Arizona Attorney General seeks “consumer restitution, attorney fees and civil penalties”.
