ARMOR opens cutting-edge battery films factory
July 2, 2024
New ARMOR factory produces advanced foils, enhancing lithium-ion battery performance and supporting Europe’s energy future.
ARMOR Group recently inaugurated its new ARMOR BATTERY FILMS factory in La Chevrolière, France, hosting Patrick Martin, President of MEDEF, and other dignitaries. The €37 million ($40 million) facility focuses on producing innovative aluminium and copper foils for lithium-ion batteries, enhancing battery performance by extending lifespan and reducing charging time.
Emmanuel Vexlard, ARMOR Group CEO, remarked, “This state-of-the-art facility positions ARMOR at the forefront of battery technology, crucial for Europe’s energy future.”
Aluminium foil, used for the cathode, and copper foil, used for the anode, are essential in lithium-ion batteries. These materials facilitate electron movement during charging and discharging cycles, improve energy density, reduce internal resistance, and enhance thermal stability. High-quality foils result in better battery performance, longer lifespan, and improved safety and reliability.
MEDEF (Mouvement des Entreprises de France), the largest employer federation in France, represents and promotes the interests of French businesses. It advocates for economic growth and business-friendly policies, engaging with government, trade unions, and international organizations to create a favourable environment for business development.
The plant aims to support Europe’s competitiveness and energy resilience.
