Apex release new chips
January 4, 2018
The chip manufacturer has launched replacement chips for use in Epson 702XL/378XL series and HP CF500 series.
Epson launched the 702/802 series ink cartridges and corresponding business inkjet printers WF-3720/WF-4720 in North America in April 2017. The 802 series cartridges have a bigger volume than the previous generation.
In August 2017, Epson launched 378/202 series ink cartridges and corresponding printers XP-8500/XP-6000 in Europe. The cartridge structure is the same as KUI series released in Japan and they have six colours and five colours. The printers in this series have a smaller size.
Apex’s first announcement is for “first-to-market” ASIC designed replacement for use in Epson 378XL/202XL/702XL/802XL cartridges. The chips are for use in Epson Expression Photo XP-8500, Epson Expression Photo XP-8505, Epson Expression Premium XP-6000, Epson Expression Premium XP-6005, Epson WorkForce Pro WF-372, Epson WorkForce WF-4720/WF-4730 and Epson WorkForce WF-4734/WF-4740.
The second release was for replacement chips for use in the HP CF500 series.
HP released a new series of Colour LaserJet printers in September 2017. The cartridges in the printers in this series have a smaller size and faster printing speed. The print speed is up to 21ppm. The new generation cartridge combines the drum and toner into one cartridge, as well as its smaller size it uses the new ColorSphere3 toner.
The “first-to-market” SoC design replacement chips are for use with the HP CF500 cartridge series and are for use in HP Colour LaserJet Pro M254/M254dw/254nw, HP Colour LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw/281fdn/281fdw/280/280nw, HP Colour LaserJet Pro M254/M254dw/254nw, HP Colour LaserJet Pro M154 and HP Colour LaserJet Pro MFP M180/180n/M181/181fw.
