Apex chips extend Kyocera and UTAX support

December 11, 2024

New aftermarket chips target high-yield printers, ensuring compatibility and reliability.

Apex Microelectronics recently launched an extensive range of aftermarket chips designed for use in Kyocera and UTAX printers. These high-yield chips address growing demand from remanufacturers and distributors seeking reliable alternatives for these leading OEM brands.

The new products include solutions for Kyocera’s ECOSYS series and UTAX’s P-4021 and P-4026 ranges, which are widely used across corporate and institutional markets. The chips provide full functionality, including accurate toner level detection, ensuring seamless performance for end-users.

The launch spans multiple regions, with Apex tailoring its offerings to meet specific market requirements. In Europe, the ALK-PK1013 and ALK-PK1014 chips target UTAX models, while North America receives Kyocera-focused solutions such as the ALK-TK1262 and ALK-TK1272. Asia-Pacific and Korea also benefit from region-specific releases, including high-yield options like the ALK-TK3415K and ALK-TK3435K, capable of handling up to 25,000 pages.

Apex’s emphasis on high yields aligns with market trends favouring cost efficiency and environmental sustainability. “These chips represent our commitment to supporting the aftermarket industry with reliable, high-quality solutions that meet the needs of global users,” an Apex spokesperson said.

The chips are designed for models like Kyocera’s ECOSYS MA4000x and MA6000ifx, widely recognised for their productivity and print quality. Apex’s solutions enable remanufacturers to extend the lifecycle of cartridges, reducing waste and supporting circular economy goals.

However, the announcement arrives amidst increasing scrutiny of third-party consumables by OEMs. Firmware updates and proprietary technologies remain hurdles for aftermarket players, but Apex’s swift response reinforces its reputation for innovation in the imaging sector.

The new chips also strengthen Apex’s foothold in the lucrative corporate printing market, where reliability and cost-effectiveness drive purchasing decisions. With the imaging industry facing tightening regulations and evolving consumer expectations, aftermarket leaders like Apex play a crucial role in ensuring competition and sustainability.
