Amazon’s 2024 Brand Protection Report outlines the company’s ongoing efforts to combat counterfeit products on its platform.
Amazon explained that it has invested over $1 billion (€877 million) and employed thousands of specialists, including machine learning scientists and investigators, to enhance its anti-counterfeiting measures. Advanced AI technologies have been instrumental in this initiative, with proactive controls blocking more than 99% of suspected infringing listings before brands need to report them.
Since 2020, there’s been a 35% decrease in valid notices of infringement submitted by brands, despite the growth in products available for sale.
In 2024, Amazon’s Counterfeit Crimes Unit (CCU) identified, seized, and disposed of over 15 million counterfeit products globally. The CCU has pursued more than 24,000 bad actors through litigation and criminal referrals since its inception.
