The OEM has published its latest financial results for the first quarter of the current financial year (ending June the 30th), with particularly positive performance in its printing segment.

Overall, Brother saw revenue of ¥171.1 billion ($1.53 billion/€1.32 billion), up 2 percent year-on-year from the figure of ¥167.7 billion ($1.5 billion/€1.3 billion) in the same period of 2017.

There was a much steeper rise in the firm’s operating profit, which leapt from ¥12.6 billion ($113.3 million/€97.8 million) last year to ¥22.2 billion ($199.7 million/€172.3 million) in 2018, an increase of 76.6 percent.

However, there was a drop in the company’s comprehensive income, which fell 40.3 percent to ¥12.5 billion ($112.4 million/€97.04 million), down from ¥20.9 billion ($118.08 million/€162.2 million) in 2017.

In the OEM’s Printing & Solutions segment, though, things were looking peachy: Revenue reached ¥99.4 billion ($894.5 million/€771.6 million), up from ¥98.8 billion ($889.1 million/€767 million) in the same spell last year, and operating profit increased from ¥9.14 billion ($82.2 million/€70.9 million) to ¥16.01 billion ($144.07 million/€124.2 million).
