Pasighat officers raid shop, arrest owner and warn public over counterfeit trade.
Police in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, India, have seized 37 counterfeit HP printer cartridges worth ₹2.27 lakh ($2,720/ €2,520) from Hi-Tech Computer Shop in the town’s main market.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Lady Inspector Ojum Riba raided the premises and arrested the owner, Irshad Hussain.
Arunachal24.in reported that the raid, supervised by Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba, follows growing concerns over fake IT supplies in the region. Authorities registered a case under Section 63 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 51, warning that counterfeit goods pose significant economic and operational risks.
Police urged consumers to verify branded products before purchase and report suspicious activity, emphasising that counterfeiting undermines legitimate business and fuels illegal trade.
