Starbucks Korea says ‘Latte Go’ to office-style setups

Aug 12, 2025

No more desks with your drinks—just coffee, chatter, and cozy vibes.

According to The Korea Herald, Starbucks Korea has brewed up a new rule: no more turning their cafés into corner offices.

That means the “cagongjok” crowd—those who arrive armed with desktops, printers, and enough extension cords to power a K-pop concert—will have to downsize. The company says it’s about preserving a warm, coffee-first atmosphere, not a boardroom with muffins.

Sure, you can still bring your laptop for a latte-fuelled work session, but the era of multi-monitor cappuccino meetings is over. The move might sting for those who have been running empires between sips, but hey—there is still Wi-Fi, cozy chairs, and the world’s most motivational background noise: espresso machines.

So pack light, order a flat white, and remember: Starbucks is not firing you—they are just gently suggesting your desk belongs at… your desk.
