Zhono’s new Progeasy Update offers instant firmware upgrades with 10-second chip contact.
Zhono launched the Progeasy Update—a handheld device designed to revolutionise chip firmware upgrades for toner cartridges. Weighing just 280g, the smart tool delivers automatic updates in 10 seconds via a simple contact-based process.
Tailored for global factories and cartridge traders, the Progeasy Update eliminates the need for manual chip model selection. When connected to Wi-Fi, it instantly detects and updates Zhono-manufactured chips on contact. The device includes a 2.4-inch colour touchscreen, Type-C charging port (SVIA-compatible), and responsive navigation and power buttons. Audible status alerts are provided by a built-in buzzer.
The user process is deliberately straightforward. Operators insert a replaceable pinboard into the update head, press the power button for 3–5 seconds, and connect to Wi-Fi using the touchscreen menu. While public networks requiring browser login are unsupported, the device will auto-reconnect to previously authorised Wi-Fi networks.
To perform an update, users press the pinboard against a chip. Screen prompts—[Chip Detected!], [Downloading], and [Update Success!]—guide the process. If a chip is already current, the device displays [Latest Version].
Zhono’s Progeasy Update currently supports chip models CF258A/X, CF259A/X, CF276A/X, and W2020A/W2030A/W2040A. Each chip series requires its own pinboard, all of which are compatible with the update head—reducing hardware costs.
The boxed kit includes the device, update head, one pinboard, spare pins, a charging cable, and shockproof packaging.
