Kyocera to invest in chip production

The company has revealed it is looking to invest ¥1.3 trillion ($9.95 billion/ €9.44 billion) in semiconductor-related production.

Nikkei Asian Review reported that Kyocera’s President, Hideo Tanimoto disclosed the investment plan in semiconductor-related production and other business over three fiscal years starting from 2023.

According to the report, Kyocera is planning on investing in a new plant as well as its R&D on the semiconductor side. In Vietnam the company is looking to expand its factory that produces its MFPs.

The investment is said to partially come from bank borrowings and KDDI shareholdings as collateral.
