Cartridge Web journey to greener packaging

Nov 10, 2022 | 0 comments

Earlier this year, Cartridge Web initiated more research into going greener with its products and packaging.

In response to many countries now launching green initiatives, Cartridge Web has been working in the background to look at its products and packaging to see where there are opportunities.

Some of these initiatives include a Plastic Packaging Tax. Being aware of the global trend while supplying compatible toner cartridges to its European customers, Cartridge Web has been looking at measures to introduce to its products.

Initially, Cartridge Web implemented a comprehensive review of its current packaging and found that EPE foam takes the largest portion among all buffers applied to its packaging. EPE foam (expanded polyethylene foam) is one of the most widely used plastics in production. To reduce the usage of EPE foam, Cartridge Web started to design various shapes of cardboard boxes as its new buffers to replace EPE.

The company said: “However, one of the challenges we faced is that we need extra dropping tests to make sure that our new packaging is strong enough to pass the ISTA standards.

“Even though this new measure of greener packaging will cost us more time to test and more spending on buffers, Cartridge Web is still willing to be part of this greener world.”
