Reports say that OKI is moving its printer production from China to Thailand.

According to reports by Kyodo News, OKI Electric Industry (Shenzhen) Co., will cease production of OKI printers in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province in October and move the production to OKI Data Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., based in Ayutthaya, Thailand.

Kyodo News said in its report that Oki said: “After the production shift from China, it will target specific markets such as healthcare and retailing with advanced printers for business use, taking advantage of its light-emitting diode technology, and also incorporate printer engines into various devices including those in internet of things networks.”

The move of production comes as part of its operation review OKI reported on in its mid-term business plan for fiscal 2020 through 2022.
